Transatlantic Connections Conference a resounding success

21st January 2016

The Institute of Study Abroad Ireland is thrilled to have hosted, for the third year running, the Drew University Transatlantic Connections Conference. What a success it was! Not only did we have a wonderful appearance by the President of Ireland, Mr. Michael D. Higgins, who presented a Peace Builder award to former congressman Bruce Morrison, but we had a unique peace studies keynote which saw Ulster Unionist Party Leader Mike Nesbitt share a stage with the Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness. We also had great addresses from the Boston Globe Journalist Kevin Cullen, Professor Christine Kinealy from  the Great Hunger Institute, and a 1916 keynote from Irish historian Turtle Bunbury.

More photos to follow- but many congrats to two of our Summer Campers from 2015, Jared Miller and Emilia Bianchini, who returned to the conference as interns. Well done! For more info on the Transatlantic Conference, click here.
